"The Role I Play" explores the tension between identity and performance. The familiar symbol of the clown appears without its expected joy—the red nose remains, but behind it is a quiet, vulnerable gaze that reveals the distance between what we show to others and what we carry within.
Fragmented features, overlapping contours, and contrasting areas of light and darkness suggest an identity shaped by different roles. The clown becomes more than a character or disguise; it represents the versions of ourselves we create for the outside world, and the fragile boundary between the person we are and the person we perform.
Part of the Beyond the Visible series, the work reflects on the masks we wear, the emotions we conceal, and what remains when the performance ends.
